Exceptional Representation

The firm of Joyce, Meredith, Flitcroft, and Normand is a highly respected law firm in legal circles; enjoying the unique distinction of having a former partner appointed to the Federal Bench (the Honorable Frank Wilson, E.D. Tenn. S.D. (1961-1982) and another former partner appointed to the State Supreme Court (the Honorable E. Riley Anderson, Ct. of App. Tenn. 1987-1990; State Supreme Court Justice, 1990-Current). Former partners W. Clark Meredith, David L. Flitcroft, and Current managing partner, James T. Normand, have each held the position as President in the local Bar Association, with all present members of the legal staff belonging to a wide variety of professional organizations. An established relationship is shared with the courts and other members of the Bar due to the Firm’s involvement in these various associations.

The firm has a staff of 20 lawyers statewide, with the partners located in the Oak Ridge office. Four practicing lawyers currently comprise the Oak Ridge Firm in the general practice of law. The roots of the partnership began in 1951, with the joinder of the late Judge Frank Wilson and the late Eugene L. Joyce in establishing the first Oak Ridge Law Firm at 30 Kentucky Avenue, Town Hall Building, where the Firm remains to this day. As the Firm grew, partners W. Clark Meredith, David L. Flitcroft, and James T. Normand each, interned and then assumed their responsibilities in maintaining the Firm’s growth and reputation for excellence. James T. Normand is now our managing partner.

Since those beginnings, the Firm has steadily grown, branching out in its representation of varied clients of diverse needs. Included among its clients are three large credit unions, Bank of America, South Central Bell, Ridgeview Psychiatric Hospital, Oak Ridge Utility District, and the State of Tennessee. The Firm currently has 20 full-time lawyers, paralegals, and support personnel as well as various part-time support staff. The Firm maintains primary specialties in its practice, those being: litigation and trial practice, estates, real estate, banking and corporate, child support enforcement, family law, and collections. The Firm pioneered in the training and use of paralegals over twenty years ago and currently utilizes paralegal support in all areas of its primary practice. Since 1988, the Firm has represented the State of Tennessee in the area of child support enforcement, as designated Assistant District Attorneys in Anderson County, Davidson County, Knox County, Crockett County, Gibson County, Haywood County, and Hamilton County. As pioneers in the field of privatization of child support enforcement, the Firm remains active in state and national administration of Title IV-D work. The Firm is active in the State Child Support Enforcement Conference as well as maintaining membership in the National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA). The Firm maintains offices in Knoxville, Hamilton County, and in West Tennessee Counties as well as Anderson County, for its child support enforcement activities.

The firm is rated AV by Martindale-Hubble and is listed in the Bar Registry of Select Law Firms in the Country.
