David Lynn Flitcroft, age 74, of Knoxville, Tennessee went home to be with his Lord on July 25, 2023. He was born on August 4, 1948, in Grants Pass, Oregon. David was a generous, kind, and loving man who truly cared about others.
​​​​​​​​​David is survived by his beloved wife Karen Flitcroft, his daughters Myra Flitcroft and Anna Peters, his grandson Felix Keil, and his granddaughters Ariel and Sierra Peters. He is also survived by his stepson Josh Holley, stepdaughters Denise Harrison, Candace Shore (Daniel), Leslie Wiens (Mark), and Meredith A’Hern (Jay), as well as step grandchildren Sarah Kate and Davis Shore (Mary Katheryn), Katrina and Kirsten Wiens, Harper and Corry A’Hern. David was preceded in death by his father Marvin Flitcroft, mother Evelyn Williams Flitcroft, and younger brother Glenn Flitcroft.

David served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 until 1974. He pursued higher education at the University of Oregon and the University of Tennessee College of Law, earning his Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1978. Upon admission to the Bar, David joined the law firm of Joyce, Meredith, Flitcroft, and Normand in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where he became a partner until retiring in 2019. He was known throughout the state of Tennessee as an authority on real estate matters and laws. He was appointed by Governor Bredesen to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission where he served for six years.

David was a member of Fellowship Church, where he renewed his relationship with Jesus Christ. He enjoyed hiking, gardening, writing poetry, brewing craft beers, playing ping pong and pool in his free time.

The family would like to thank the staff at Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley, Grace Home Care Manor, and hospice for the care and compassion they showed David in his final days.

A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held in the Student Building of Fellowship Church, located at 8000 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN on August 28, 2023. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to noon prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

David Lynn Flitcroft will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and love for others will forever be remembered.
